Staff Selection Commission (SSC)

  • Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS): 4887 posts
  • Havaldar: 3439 posts

Pay Scale: Rs. 18000 - 56900/- (Level 1 as per 7th CPC Pay Matrix)

Age Relaxation: The category-wise age relaxation is as follows:

  • SC/ST: 5 years
  • OBC: 3 years
  • PwBD (Unreserved): 10 years
  • PwBD (OBC): 13 years
  • PwBD (SC/ST): 15 years
  • Ex-Servicemen (ESM): 3 years

Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed Matriculation Examination or its equivalent from a recognized Board.


Age Limit: As per the Recruitment Rules of various User Departments:

  • For MTS: 18-25 years (candidates born between 02.08.1999 and 01.08.2006)
  • For Havaldar (CBIC & CBN) and certain MTS posts in various departments: 18-27 years (candidates born between 02.08.1997 and 01.08.2006)

Computer Based Examination:

  • Sessions: Two mandatory sessions (Session-I and Session-II) on the same day. Not attempting any session disqualifies the candidate.

  • Type of Questions: Objective Type, Multiple Choice questions.

  • Language: Conducted in Hindi, English, and 13 regional languages:

  • Negative Marking: No negative marking in Session-I; one mark deducted for each wrong answer in Session-II.

  • Duration:

    • Session-I: 45 minutes.
    • Session-II: 45 minutes (starts immediately after Session-I).
  • Normalization: Scores will be normalized for multiple shifts, as per the Commission’s formula (Notice No: 1-1/2018-P&P-I dated 07-02-2019) and used to determine final merit and cut-off marks.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET):

  • Male:
    • Walking: 1600 meters in 15 minutes.
  • Female:
    • Walking: 1 Km in 20 minutes.

Physical Standard Test (PST):

For Male:

  • Height: 157.5 cm (relaxable by 5 cm for Garhwalis, Assamese, Gorkhas, and members of Scheduled Tribes)
  • Chest: 81 cm (fully expanded with minimum expansion of 5 cm)

For Female:

  • Height: 152 cm (relaxable by 2.5 cm for Garhwalis, Assamese, Gorkhas, and members of Scheduled Tribes)
  • Weight: 48 kg (relaxable by 2 kg for Garhwalis, Assamese, Gorkhas, and members of Scheduled Tribes)
